House Work: Journal 1/14/16

What can I do to contribute to the peace and overall cleanliness of the house? As the oldest child in the house I need to be responsible for leading Onjel, Eden, and Deryon. I can contribute by keeping the rooms straitened throughout the day and finishing the clothes early in the day so that our evening can be less stressful. I can contribute to the underlying peace of out house by keeping my timesheet up to date and staying present through the day. All of us can contribute by making our beds in the morning and cleaning our messes before we move forward

Resolutions That Work: Sermon Notes

"The reason most of out resolutions don't work is because they are rooted in carnality"

=============================================

-We study the Old Testament with New Testament filters.

-A prerequisite of victory is acknowledging you own inablity

"Flesh and Spirit are in opposition" [Galatians 5:16-17]

"Go out and Possess it" [Josua 1 9-11]

The Truth in Two Words

-Giving

"10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven."[Matthew 6:10]

"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."[Galatians 5:1]

-Possessing

-There is something character forming in the battle and in the struggle. Although God has given you victory, he does not keep us from the battle.

"We will not be tempted past what we are able to handle" [1 Corinthians 10:13]

-If you are not looking for a way of escape you will NOT find it

Keep the Fire: Sermon Notes

"Purpose Produces Passion"

================================================

-Passion is Pain! Apathy is the opposite of passion. Apathy means to be without feeling.

Where there is no pain there in so feeling, and the lack of feeling is a dangerous ailment.

"Indecisiveness is failure in Disguise"

- It puts you in a state of inaction. Your purpose will make decisions for you.

"Purposelessness is a Form of Hell!"

-The only genuinely happy people are those who give there lives to make a significant difference for others.

"Passion is what causes people to wake up early and go to sleep late"
"It is better to be a failure in something you love than successful in something you hate" - George Burns
"Passion is connected to Newness of Freshness"

-We have to learn to Keep ourselves fueled and inflamed.

To stay Passionate:
  • Keep things New
  • Keep Dead things Dead
  • Keep yourself Dependent
  • Keep yourself Future Focused

Be Passionate!!

"An Intercessor becomes an Answer!!"

Elijah and The Widow : Sermon Notes

A problem is a mismatch of what you have/lack and what you want/need

=============================================

"There is no greater agony, than holding an untold story inside you"-Maya Angelou

Reap What You Sow

You don't get what you wish for, by what you prepare for.

Based on you're doing today how are you preparing:
  • Spiritually?
  • Health wise?
  • Financially?
"Its not that happy people are thankful by that thankful people are happy"

"Anything done occasionally will produce temporary results"

Today's tests prepare you for tomorrow's victory

You are not what happened to you, You are what you choose to become

Before you implement any plan ask:
-Before I carry out in the Light of my past situation what is the wise thing to do?
-In Light of my present/future what is the wise thing to do?

"A seed is a leftover for A startover"
"A seed is pregnant but doesn't show"

Whats about to die in my life that I need to set a seed for"

*Attitude*

"The only true failure, lies in the failure to start"-Henry Blake Walter
"Challenges make life interesting, Overcoming them makes them Meaningful'

Time Doesn't stop, Neither should You
Time always moves right
Time never goes back to the past

We shouldn't count down we should be counting up

Out future isn't determined by what we intend to sow buw what we truly sow.

Some people spend their time looking at the next two years and not enough time on the next ten years.

We should always stay thankful, remembering that no matter our situation it could always be worse.

FILTERS: Sermon Notes

Our perceptions are not always accurate Our feelings are not always fact

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-What you look out from, determines your outcome.

"You can't depend on your eyes, When your imagination is out of focus" - Mark Twain
Living Life without filters leads to great offense
We don't live life just by our brain
We need out heart as well

Balance

"We live in a culture where creating image is more important than building character" [Romans 12:18]

<--Make an effort to live in peace with everyone-->

<We all intentionally look through filters>

We have to see things in context in order to fully understand it.

"We don't see things as they are, We see them as we are" - Bishop Bronner
Arrogance is a dangerous filter. We needs God's wisdom to truly succeed. Don't be wise in your own eyes [ Proverbs 3:7]

We see things through our own:

  • Expectations
  • Beliefs
  • Concerns
  • Needs
Inside of out filters are :
  • Past experiences
  • View of the World
  • Concept of right and wrong
  • Behavioral preferences
  • Values
"If you change the way you look at things, The thing you look at will change"

Filters prevent new information from coming through.

Reflection: Mercy and Grace

God's  Mercy and Grace

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
God has mercy, he forgives us even when we don't deserve it. He has compassion he watches our hearts. God gives us grace things we don't deserve. And he asks us to hate the things that he hates and love the things he loves. We know that God has mercy, grace, compassion, and that he is slow to anger.

Reflection(January 12, 2016)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is important when studying scripture to consider the differences between two very similar terms, mercy and grace. According to scripture, the wages of sin is death. Everyone has sinned and fallen short of  the Glory of God, the only reason we have a chance at heaven is because God is a merciful God. Mercy is when someone keeps us from a negative consequence of our own actions. Mirriam Webster describes it as : a blessing that is an act of divine favor or compassion. god showed mercy on David when he killed Uriah and took his wife. He showed mercy on Samson after he was blinded and enslaved because of his own disobedience. Grace on the other hand is the giving a a positive consequence when we don't deserve it. It was through God's grace that Jesus came down from heaven to die on the cross.

What did the Flood Represent?

(August 2, 2010)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The flood was made to kill all of the evil, it represents cleansing and starting over and thats exactly what God wanted to do so he took a righteous man and started a new generation of everything. And to show his promise not to destroy the earth by flood again he made the rainbow. So now every time we see a rainbow we should remember God.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reflection(January 7, 2015)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
God is a just God. He always gives man a way of escape. When the descendents of Adam and Eve became corrupt, he found godliness in the form of Noah. Even though, only Noah and his family were the only ones on the Ark, there was more than ample time for all of the rest to repent and join Noah on the Ark. According to modern theologians, Noah was believed to have spent approximately 120 years building the Ark. This means that Noah was in a position to preach to his neighbors about the coming flood for a little over a century. Yet not one other person forsook his worldly pleasure for the opportunity to board the Ark with Noah. Noah became God's chosen because he was set apart from the world. God formed a covenant or promise with him that covered both himself and his household. Much like God's covenant with Abraham covered not only him but his whole people. God provided Noah with a long enough life to complete the Ark, living to the ripe old age of 950. When he had finished building the Ark, after 120 years of tedious carpentry and construction, it would have amounted to nothing had god not sent the animals into it. When the flood came and the waters were rising, it would all be over if God had not closed the entrance. After the 40 days of raining and the 150 days of waiting, Noah and everything on the Ark would have starved and died had not God's wind pushed back the waters on Mt. Ararat and provided a safe place to rest and live. When we make a covenant with God, we admit our inability to succeed without him and our willingness to follow him no matter the circumstances. The rainbow was a sign of God's promise to never again flood the whole world, but it was also a sign marking the beginning of an era of God covenants.
